To support the leadership of this work, we are now recruiting in to a Group Head of Exhibition Services. Contractually, this role can be based at any of the SMG museums in London, Bradford, Manchester or York.
About the role
The Head of Exhibition Services will be responsible for leading a team delivering exhibitions wherever in the world they are displayed. As a service provider to exhibitions teams across the Group and at Tour venues, you will ensure the design, production, logistics and project management of exhibitions that move between sites are of the highest standards, including responsibility for health and safety of these activities. You will lead a high performing, multi-site team, ensuring their continued training and development, setting standards, and delivering an exceptional service to all exhibition teams, internal and external for the production and installation of exhibitions. You will travel internationally representing SMG and building strong and sustained partnerships through best practice.
About you
Joining us, you will bring extensive experience of managing exhibitions and tours in the museums and galleries sector. You will be a strong resource manager with experience of managing contractors and diverse teams across multiple locations. As an exhibitions specialist, you will have experience of working with collections and object-rich exhibitions, alongside experience of collaborating with partner museums or galleries. The ability to listen to a range of viewpoints and make decisions in the context of the wider political, economic and social environment will be important.
