Are you an enthusiastic individual with Registration experience, having managed loans in or out for museum or gallery displays, exhibitions or touring exhibitions? We'd love you to bring your skills and experience to the Science Museum Group as a Registrar supporting projects across our three northern sites: the National Media Museum in Bradford, the National Railway Museum in York and the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.
We are looking for a confident, diplomatic communicator, calm under pressure who can respond flexibly to changes. An awareness of best practice for loans in and working knowledge of the Government Indemnity Scheme will be needed, as well as the ability to manage a challenging, high-volume workload.
This post assists teams across the Museum in delivering ambitious, accessible exhibitions and tours, ensuring that all statutory responsibilities are maintained throughout. There will also be responsibility for ensuring acquisitions into and loans out of the collection are managed in line with due process.
There is opportunity to work on the loan negotiation and management for the National Media Museum's summer exhibition, as well as assisting to plan the de-install and return of an internationally touring photography exhibition. The role will help support the ongoing operational locomotive loans from the National Railway Museum and will provide Registration assistance for artist commissioned installations.
We would like the post holder to be based at Bradford but would be willing to consider the role being based at York or Manchester with weekly travel to Bradford. We welcome candidates who have already worked at a Registrar level as equally as candidates who have been working at an Assistant Registrar (or equivalent) level and who are looking for an opportunity to take an upwards step.
