We are looking for a motivated individual with a keen interest in medical history and current biomedical science to provide maternity cover delivering collections-based content for the most ambitious element of the Science Museum's Masterplan. Opening in 2019 we are creating a suite of five new Medicine Galleries which will showcase our world class Medicine collection in a new location at the heart of the Museum.The curator will lead the delivery of content for a Narrative Gallery (working title: Medicine & Bodies) within the Science Museum's new medicine galleries, plus associated online and publication outputs, paying close attention to the existing plans and vision and ensuring world-class standards of curation, research, collection management and display. Medicine & Bodies gallery is about how scientific discovery and exploration of the human body - by dissecting it, imaging it, measuring and decoding its building blocks - has transformed how medicine defines and diagnoses disease and how we see ourselves, in sickness and in health. The curator works closely with peers, the Lead Curator and the wider project team to ensure the coherence of the suite of galleries and the effective coordination of all strands of project work, taking the lead where required.
