Collections Services Programme Manager
Job description
Do you have experience of working with museum collections and a knowledge of best practice in collections management? Would you like to use your planning and budgeting skills across a wide variety of exciting projects?
The Science Museum Group is delivering a new and ambitious strategy to deliver a more accessible and sustainable collection, which will be
better-understood and appreciated both internally and externally. Based in London and working across the Group, you will support the Head of Collections Services Programmes and Planning with scoping, planning and implementing programmes of work that cut across our three primary teams: Conservation & Collections Care, Digitisation and Registration.
Ensuring that museum activities are co-ordinated with major collections moves projects, you will plan and budget for Collections Services, monitoring progress, issues and risks and working with a variety of stakeholders at all levels. You will contribute to the continuous reviews of collections management processes, encouraging collaboration, knowledge-sharing and innovative approaches to collections management. Representing your team to senior management, you will also manage small-scale, short-term collections projects that cut across different areas of the organisation.
As well as experience of working with museum collections, you will have a working knowledge of best practice in collections management and sophisticated influencing skills. You will have excellent planning and budgeting skills, with the ability to co-ordinate work across multiple work streams.
