The Science Museum Group is here to inspire futures. Our story in County Durham begins in the 1820s in Shildon, the world's first railway town. Later becoming the largest wagon works in Europe, this site is now home to one of the Group's most historically significant museums, Locomotion. To champion our ambitious plans, we are looking for a dynamic individual to join us as Head of Locomotion, based in Shildon, on a permanent basis. In this role, you will drive work to develop and communicate plans for the buildings, collections and exhibitions at Locomotion. You will also lead a small operational team on site and work as part of National Railway Museum's senior management team, collaborating across the Group to create new interpretation, programmes, partnerships and ideas for the museum. Joining us, you will have the passion and appetite to accelerate Locomotion's plans and vision. Bringing expert skills from working on capital redevelopment projects and public programming, you will have the tenacity to forge lasting relationships whilst being an inspiring leader, supporting and developing the team in Shildon.
