We are recruiting for 3 x Collections Project Officers to join our existing NCC Moves team. You will be involved in key areas of the project including documentation (inventory and digitisation), hazard surveying, preventive conservation cleaning, packing and transporting of the diverse objects in the National Collections Centre in Wroughton, Swindon.
The role will follow a rapid inventory workflow that will account for every object in these collections and ensure there is a core database record on the collections database. You will be using barcode scanning technology and one of the world’s leading museum collections management software to track and catalogue a very diverse collection.
As part of working in this fast-paced team you will ensure that all tasks are carried out in a safe and secure manner to comply with current legislation and following best professional practice.
Joining us you will use your practical and relevant experience of object handling and packing to ensure the Mimsy XG database is up to date with relevant information on each object. You will receive training to identify and record hazardous materials in the collection, utilising your attention to detail, team-working and communication skills to work with Conservation and Curators to implement responsible methods of hazardous material mitigation to reduce loss of historic integrity.
