Do you have studio photography experience of collection in a museum, commercia or fine art environment? Do you have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team?
Over the next five years we will study, photograph and transport 320,000 objects from Blythe House in West London to a new purpose-built collection management facility at our National Collections Centre in Wiltshire. This new facility will house over 80% of the Science Museum Group Collection, and from 2023 will open regularly through a varied programme of public tours, school and research visits.
As Photography Team Leader you will play a key role in delivering 'record-shot' object photography for the collections prior to their relocation. This is a fast-paced project to create a high volume of record shots of the historic collections.
You will lead a team of Junior Photographers to deliver the photography workflow. Managing the daily operations of the team, who will be working systematically through the collection, you will be working to ensure objects are imaged to meet our packing schedule with support from our Volunteer Manager. You will supervise a group of volunteers who assist the junior photographers with their work, recruiting and training them as necessary.
You will be offered excellent benefits, including 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme, BUPA medical and dental care, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
