Are you able to articulate the vision for a major project? Can you engage stakeholders, share enthusiasm and keep multiple complex projects on track?
The Science Museum Group (SMG) is here to inspire futures. As part of this world leading collective, the National Railway Museum in York has an exciting strategic masterplan, Vision 2025, which is a total reimagination of the museum. Over the next few years, every part of the museum and visitor journey will change.
The Masterplan Programme Director will oversee and be responsible for the project deliverables within a GBP 55m programme of works to upgrade and improve the physical appearance of the site. You will be part of a highly successful Masterplan team that over the past decade has delivered transformational projects across the Science Museum Group.
The Programme Director will liaise closely with a variety of stakeholders and project managers, both internal and external, and will work closely with the York Central Partnership team. Clear communication and collaboration are essential within the role to ensure engagement with all stakeholders, and minimal disruption to museum operations.
The Programme Director is a visible and influential role in the successful delivery of the museum's transformation through meticulous planning, budget control, communication and leadership of the capital programme at all stages from concept and briefing through design to construction, handover, opening and aftercare.
Joining us, you will be a 'big picture' person, passionate about being a part of the museum's future. You'll be a strong communicator; able to articulate the Masterplan vision for the site, whilst also being able to dive into fine detail when necessary in order to ensure projects are delivered to scope, in time and in budget. You will have had experience working on high-profile projects, ideally with a design, curatorial or creative background. But primarily you'll be a proactive person, able to get projects moving by building relationships, leading teams and finding solutions.
You will be offered excellent benefits, including 27 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays, a contributory pension scheme, BUPA medical and dental care, an annual season ticket loan and numerous staff discounts whilst developing your career in a world class museum group.
